XI’AN TRAIN STATION PROPOSAL

Swapping the project area to the rails itself (that become the main building, shaped to look like big fast trains from the sorroundings), a strong idea that allows creating a huge green heart for the new city development. The concept design of Xi’an Train Station mainly concerns the space dedicated to trains and docks. The choice of design and composition is dictated by the possibility of using all the public and square spaces around the station for sport activities, recreational areas, social and cultural activities. The external space facing the two sides of the railway site, may change over time, undergo substantial changes by increasing the commercial surfaces and/or decreasing the built spaces, without causing a change in the main and indispensable functions dedicated to the station, located above the train tracks. The buiding are characterized by function. Ticket offices and entrances determine elements of connection between the volumes, while hospitality, catering services, restaurants and offices are clearly defined within the elements placed above the train tracks. Proportions and dimensions have been calculated to give a perception of the built elements of efficiency, speed and comfort. Elements that increasingly characterize rail transport. Xi’an train station define the new futuristic concept of “non-place” to determine spaces and visibility in continuous evolution.
